Today’s car market is much different than it was just a few decades ago. Now car companies are putting more and more focus on developing self-driving cars. Though many brands—including Ford—have been working on these technologies for several years, now is the exciting time when much of the research seems to be coming to fruition.
In December 2017, Ford made an announcement about its ongoing process of building a self-driving car. According to Jim Farley, the company’s president of global markets, Ford is preparing to test a new self-driving car on public roads as early as this year. Instead of using the LiDAR units that were located on rearview mirrors, Ford’s new self-driving car will use a small unit on top of the car that will take in its surroundings.
The team at Randall Noe Ford is looking forward to watching the continuous development of Ford’s new self-driving car and is also excited to see what new ways Ford might use the technology. Will they have their own fleet of self-driving delivery vehicles? Or perhaps put their self-driving technology to use in a self-driving truck? Only time will tell, and we can’t wait to find out.
