Ford recently announced that it will be releasing an extremely limited 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition to follow up on the success of the previously-released ’66 Heritage Edition. This Heritage Edition pays homage to the legendary Ford GT40 Mark IV race car, which was driven to victory by Dan Gurney and A.J. Hoyt back in 1967 at the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race.
The special edition Ford GT will be notable for its gloss-finish Race Red color and white stripes, as well as an exposed carbon exterior package. Further setting it apart as a victorious racer homage is the Frozen White No. 1 hood and door graphics, similar to that worn by the 1967 Le Mans winner. The 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage edition will sit on 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheels and will sport red brake calipers and silver rearview mirror caps.
Inside, the GT model will boast leather trimming for the carbon fiber seats with red accent stitching that mirrors the stitching on the steering wheel. Other interior features include satin dark stainless appliques, anodized gray paddle shifters, and red seat belt webbing.
“In creating a worthy successor to the 2017 Heritage edition, we logically looked at our next historic Le Mans victory with the all-American team of Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt,” explained Dave Pericak, global director of Ford Performance. “The 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage edition pays homage to that win, with a modern take on one of the most important vehicles in Ford’s storied history of racing.”
